NC-filmed MAX STEEL Blasts Into Theaters

RALEIGH - The North Carolina filmed action feature Max Steel blasts into theaters throughout North America on Friday, October 14, with a few select showings on Thursday as well.
Based on the popular action figure from Mattel, the feature is about the adventures of teenager Max McGrath and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the turbo-charged superhero Max Steel. It stars Ben Winchell (Finding Carter, NC-filmed Teen Spirit) as Max, Golden Globe nominee Maria Bello (A History of Violence, ER, Lights Out), and Oscar nominee Andy Garcia (The Godfather: Part III, The Untouchables, Oceans Twelve), with Josh Brener (The Internship, Silicon Valley) voicing Steel.
In addition to North America, the film is being released in the following countries: Thailand (Oct. 6), Philippines (Oct. 19), the United Kingdom (Oct. 25), Singapore (Oct. 27), Estonia (Nov. 11), Argentina (Nov. 24), Brazil (Nov. 24), Japan (Dec. 3), and Italy (Jan. 26, 2017)
Max Steel filmed in New Hanover County in the spring of 2014 and had a direct in-state spend in excess of $7.2 million and created 317 job opportunities. It was one of more than 50 productions that filmed in North Carolina in 2014 who all combined had a direct spend in excess of $315 million while creating more than 19,000 job opportunities while filming in over 35 of the states counties.
