PAPER TOWNS, Another NC-filmed Production, In Theaters This Week

Teen drama is based off of best-selling John Greene novel of same name

RALEIGH - The North Carolina-filmed teen coming-of-age drama Paper Towns hits theaters nationwide this Friday, July 24. Production on the feature occurred at the end of 2014 with filming primarily taking place in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston and Union counties.


Starring Nat Wolff (The Fault In Our Stars, The Naked Brothers Band, NC-filmed Stuck in Love) as Quentin and Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina, the upcoming Suicide Squad) as Margo, along with Halston Sage, Austin Abrams, Cara Buono, Jaz Sinclair and Meg Crosbie, Paper Towns centers on the search for Margo by Quentin and his friends after she disappears-and leaves clues about where she has gone- following a night of wild pranks in retaliation of her so-called friends turning on her. The feature is the film adaption of The New York Times best-selling novel by John Greene, who also wrote the The Fault In Our Stars, which was also adapted into a successful movie.

Paper Towns was one of more than 50 productions who registered with the North Carolina Film Office in 2014 that combined are estimated to have had a direct in-state spend in excess of $316 million while creating more than 3,000 well-paying job crew positions for the states highly skilled film professionals and 19,000 total job opportunities over the course of 3,300+ production days while filming in more than 35 of states 100 counties. In addition to Paper Towns, highlights of productions that filmed in the state last year include the television series Under The Dome, Sleepy Hollow, Banshee, and Secrets and Lies; feature films Masterminds, The Choice, Max, and The Longest Ride; and independent features The Disappointments Room, SXSW Selection One & Two, Tribeca Film Festival selection Ashby, and Blue Mountain State-The Movie; as well as national commercials for Dannon Yogurt, Pepsi, Xarelto, Purina and Burger King.
