The 2010 Grand Rapids Film Festival winner for "Best Feature Film," The Trial will be released nationwide on DVD by 20th Century Fox on Tuesday, November 9th. The feature is scheduled to play at Wilmington's prestigious Cucalorus Film Festival as one of the closing night films.

Based on Charlotte author Robert Whitlow's book of the same name, the feature is about a lawyer who is assigned a capital punishment case that begins to transform his life and those around him following the horrific death of his wife and two sons. It stars Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket) and Bob Gunton (The Shawshank Redemption, 24) and is directed by Gary Wheeler, also of Huntersville.

The PG-13 movie was filmed in Charlotte and surrounding areas and was an official selection to the 2010 Gideon Media Arts Conference. Pre-orders for the DVD can be made online at www.christiancinema.com.
