State and Local Film Officials Return from Tradeshow in California
April 26, 2016

AFCI Locations and Global Finance Show attended by more than 3,000 film professionals

RALEIGH - North Carolina Film Office director Guy Gaster, along with representatives from the Wilmington Regional Film Commission, Piedmont Triad Film Commission, and Charlotte Regional Film Commission have recently returned from the greater Los Angeles area after attending the annual Association of Film Commissions Internationals (AFCI) Locations and Global Finance Show.

Held at the Marriott Burbank April 21-23, the AFCI Locations and Global Finance Show is the worlds largest tradeshow of its kind and is estimated to have had attendance in excess of 2,500 at this years event. The tradeshow brings together regional, state and even national film commissions from around the world to discuss their respective areas locations, crew base, financial incentives and other matters of importance to filmmakers and film professionals.

This year, the North Carolina booth provided an interactive element as attendees could play a game of Super Shoot Basketball while learning more about shooting in North Carolina. The basketball themed promotion proved to be a big hit with attendees and provided a way for the state film office to gather contact information from attendees. AFCI recognized the booth as most creative during the organizations membership meeting and show awards ceremony Friday morning.

In addition to the tradeshow, state film officials also conducted several business meetings in the area and also attended educational classes about the use of drones on set and on-set animal safety.
