NC-filmed Documentary PRIVATE VIOLENCE Receives Emmy Nomination

RALEIGH - The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced its nominees for the 26th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards on Wednesday, July 22. Among the nominees was the North Carolina filmed and produced documentary Private Violence, whose nomination was in the category of Outstanding Informational Programming-Long Form.
Directed and produced by NC-filmmaker Cynthia Hill, who recently won an a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Lifestyle/Culinary/Travel Program for A Chefs Life, Private Violence is a feature-length documentary film takes a look at the lives of two survivors who bear witness to the complicated and complex realities of intimate partner violence whose experiences challenge entrenched and misleading assumptions, providing a lens into a world that is largely invisible as a result of the silence, laws, and lack of understanding.
In 2014, the documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was also selected for the Durhams Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, the HotDocs Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival and the Doxa Documentary Film Festival, among others. The movie went on to air that same year on HBO.
Production on Private Violence begin in 2011 and work on the production continued into 2014.
The News & Documentary Emmy Awards will be presented on Monday, September 28th, 2015, at a ceremony at Lincoln Centers David Geffen Hall in New York City. The event will be attended by more than 1,400 television and news media industry executives, news and documentary producers and journalists. Emmy Awards will be presented in 45 categories.
