UNDER THE DOME Returns This Thursday
June 22, 2015

Top summer series has filmed all 3 of its seasons in Southeast NC

RALEIGH - Under The Dome, CBSs breakout summer series, returns to the network this Thursday, June 25, at 9 p.m. with a 2-hour season premiere.

Just like its first two season, the third season of the series once again is 13 episodes, which are being shot throughout the Wilmington Region of the state including the cities of Wilmington, Southport and Burgaw as well as on the stages of EUE/Screen Gems Studios. According to documents filed with the NC Department of Revenue, in its two seasons, the summer series had a direct in-state spend in excess of $70 million and created more than 2,500 job opportunities, including approximately 300 positions each season for the states highly-skilled film professionals.

Under The Dome is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King in which an invisible and mysterious force field descends upon the small fictitious town of Chesters Mill, trapping residents inside, cut off from the rest of civilization. The trapped townsfolk must discover the secrets and purpose of the "dome" and its origins, while coming to learn more than they ever knew about each other. The series stars Mike Vogel (Cloverfield, The Help), Rachelle Lefevre (the Twilight series, White House Down), Alexander Koch, Mackenzie Lintz (The Hunger Games, Drop Dead Diva), Colin Ford (Push, We Bought A Zoo) and Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, Little Miss Sunshine), among many others.

We are excited to have Under The Dome continuing its production in North Carolina, said Guy Gaster, director of the North Carolina Film Office. The series continues to be a key component of our states film and entertainment industry.
The filming of the third season of Under The Dome is still underway in the state.

Season 3 of Under The Dome qualified for the states first film and entertainment grant program, in which the production has been allocated for the maximum incentive amount available, $5 million. The grant program rebates productions up to 25% of their direct in-state spending following the production conducting an audit by an NC-licensed CPA and submitting a report to the NC Department of Commerce.
