2008 Blu Moon Film Festival May 3

Career workshops, red-carpet screenings....

East Carolina University (ECU) and the Magnolia Art Center are presenting the 2008 Blu Moon Film Festival on Saturday, May 3, in the ECU AJ Fletcher Music Building in Greenville.

There is still time It is also free to enter a film and new entries are still being sought. The submission categories include: drama, comedy, documentary, broadcast and K-12.

This year's event will include a red-carpet gala final screening of the prize-winning films submitted from high school, community colleges, and film/video programs throughout eastern North Carolina. The screening is scheduled from 7 pm to 9 pm.

There is still time enter a film. The submission categories include drama, comedy, documentary, broadcast, and films by school students K-12. There are no entry fees.

The festival will also include a free day of panel discussions/career workshops for aspiring media students and video/film professionals. Panelists include:

Mitchell Block, who recently produced "Carrier" series currently running on PBS;
Destin Cretin, a multi-award-winning filmmaker and graduate student at San Diego State University;
Aaron Syrett from the NC Film Commission;
the Southern Documentary Fund: and
the Empowerment Project.

Independent production for documentary and narrative
The Making of Award Winning Short Films
Career Opportunities for Film/Production in North Carolina
The Power of the Media

All festival events are free and open to the public, however, seating is limited so those interested are strongly encouraged to RSVP online at the Blue Moon Film Festival site.
