Filming on the NC Coast
North Carolina has 300 miles of Atlantic coastline that include private and public beaches; oceanfront homes, hotels and businesses; and state and federal parks that environmentally protected land. Miles of Intracoastal Waterways (ICW) weave in and around our islands and mainland linked by air, the state ferry system, and private vessels.
The N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources' Division of Coastal Management enforces the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), and issues permits to film/TV productions in and around designated counties*. See the CAMA Website to assess your needs for a permit and download any necessary forms.
* Also see information from the Wilmington Regional Film Commission, Inc. for permiting requirements for beaches/coastal areas in that region
